The Christian life is an on-going process; it is  24-7.  It is a life of commitment to the Lord Jesus! Here in Col. 2:7, the Apostle Paul uses the phrase “built up” to help describe our growth in Jesus. As we are rooted in Christ, we grow in intimacy with Him and in community with His people, “as living  stones” who are  “being built” into a “spiritual  house” (1 Peter 2:5).  It is evident that the desire of God  that we grow deeper in our personal walk with Christ.

If we are “rooted and built up” in the Lord Jesus, it will lead us into a deeper relationship with Him. This relationship will lead us closer to Him daily. WE will want to read His word more and spend more time with Him. Eph. 1:3 tells us  that we have “been blessed with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Paul is challenging them and us to grow deeper in what they know and Who they know.  Being “rooted, built up and established” in the Lord Jesus will allow us to “remain grounded and steadfast in the faith” and not be “shifted away from the hope of the gospel” (Col. 1:23)
