Mrs. Broussard, age 92 of Bayou Jacque, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025 in Lebeau.
The first thing anyone noticed about Mom, was her peace. She had that peace because many years ago she placed her faith and trust in the Prince of Peace, Jesus.
Mom was a servant from a very young age and that was a place she wanted to be. Her desire was to be helpful to others, always. She shared her peace and faith in the Lord with everyone; from family to the ones who carried her groceries to her car.
She loved the hills of Kentucky, her birthplace, but left them to be with her husband in south Louisiana. She always said she felt like she had moved to a foreign country; from Kentucky to Abbeville, Louisiana. Dad’s preaching was in French and all conversation was in French, but with the help of Dad’s cousin, Mom learned to speak and sing in Cajun French.
Some who looked in from the outside would say that she didn’t have much; but she was rich. Her wealth was in knowing Jesus and the treasures of heaven.
At some time in late 1955 or 1956, Mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer. As her illness progressed, she was given no hope by the doctors. If by some miracle she did live, she would never be able to have any more children. The prayers of God’s people went up on her behalf. God healed her and gave her four more children.

We believe God spared her for many reasons; I am one of those reasons. What a blessing she has been to all of us; her children who she loved so much. Many times, we as children and grandchildren would say about some particular situation, “I don’t care.” She would say to us, “But you must care.” She cared about all things according to God’s will; she cared about us and for us. We are so thankful to God for blessing our lives with our wonderful Mother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanford Broussard; her parents, Edward and Donnie Smith Radford; and siblings, Charles Radford, Harold Radford, Zelma Snow and Dorothy Cheatham.
Survivors include her children; Stephanie Ball of Bunkie, Danny Broussard (Angie) of Cheneyville, Donna Broussard of Bayou Jacque, Denise Wright of Cheneyville, David Broussard (Tracy) of Lebeau and Nathan Broussard (Amy) of Bayou Jacque; a sister, Judy Harris of Trenton, NJ; grandchildren, Sierra Ball, Samuel Ball, Sheyanne Ball, Emilee Broussard, Ryan Broussard, Kyle Broussard, Hannah Jenkins, Heidi LeBlanc, Nathan Hatcher, Garland Wright, Sara Bakies, Allie Dupont, Wyatt Broussard, Logan Broussard, Cameron Ruiz, Slade Tobias, Ian Gachassin, and Alyssa Gachassin; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
