HE BECAME YOUR HIGH PRIEST.

“Having then a great high priest, who hath passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” (Heb. 4:14) When the Lord Jesus ascended to heaven, He “sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens.” He partook of flesh and blood, not only that He might redeem us from sin and death, that also “that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.” (Heb. 2:14-18). “For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but one that hath been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let us draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in the time of need.” (Heb. 4:15-16)

This is a wonderful assurance which, if you lay hold upon it, will enable you to overcome when you would otherwise be defeated. With Christ as your High Priest, you can go straight to God through Him, knowing that He perfectly understand your every trial and temptation and will plead your case aright before the throne of God. “Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost them that draw near unto God through Him, seeing that he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” (Heb. 7:25)
