Throughout the Old Testament God revealed to His people the promise of a Savior (Messiah).  He promised Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that through them all the world would be blessed.  He promised David that the Messiah would come through his family.

God sent his messengers called prophets to tell about the coming Messiah.  Each of them told a part of God’s plan.  When all the parts were put together, God’s plan could be understood.

These prophecies told of the coming of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to save us from punishment for our sins.

One of the names given to the Christ was “Immanuel” which means God with us.  God, himself, was going to live among His people and show them how He wanted them to live.  Then He would become the sacrifice for their sins.  This was part of God’s great plan of salvation.

“When the fulness of time came, God sent His Son.”  Gal. 4:4

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” John 1:14

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by His Son . . . . .”  Heb. 1:1
