A minister once told me the “dust” in Genesis 2:7 that God took to make a man represents an ape-like creature that God turned into Adam, and so it fits with evolution. I responded, “Well if dust-to-Adam is evolution, what does rib-to-Eve mean?”

Now in the New Testament, the apostle Paul states twice that woman came from man, not from an ape-like creature. And in Matthew 19, Jesus quotes the text of Genesis 2:24 explaining that man and woman are one flesh, because Eve was created from Adam.

Also, because of sin, God placed the curse of death upon humans and we read “till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19). So Adam and Eve’s bodies, and all humans, when they die return to dust from which Adam was made. And that’s exactly what happens. Note: Adam and Eve didn’t return to ape-like creatures when they died!

It’s amazing the way in which so many church leaders will come up with all sorts of creative ways to contort the Scriptures in their efforts to fit man’s pagan religion of evolution/millions of years into the Bible.
