Sexual Immorality and Impurity. (Eph. 5:3a)  When you read  these  passages of the Apostle Paul, one might think that they are reading about the  sins of the  21st century, but in reality he is referencing the 1st century. Sin is still sin and always has been and always  will be. We are plagued by the same sin issues that  the early church  faced.

Impunity is a broad word that describes any type of filth. It is sometimes combined with  sexual immorality. In Eph. 4:19 Paul says that iti is not  limited to sexual sin. Paul says  that we  must live a lives of pervasive holiness. Peter  wrote in 1 Peter 1:16, “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Paul says there should not even be hint of sexual immorality in the believers life. He reminds them again that they were once “darkness”  but now they are “light.” He’s saying, “Become what you are!”

We must resist the temptation to rename  sin.. God’s people must seek to kill sin (Col. 3:5) and flee from sin (1 cor. 6:18; 1 Thess. 4:3).
