Since we are now “in Christ,” we must act like it. We must imitate the Lord Jesus. He is our great example.”imitate me, as I also imitate Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1; cf. 1 Cor. 4:16; Phil. 3:17; 1 Thess. 1:6; 2 Thess: 3;7-9).
Paul tells congregations to imitate other congregations (1 Thess. 2:14). It is only in Ephesians that we are told “to imitate God.”
Paul paints a glorious picture of the Father in Ephesians (1:3, 17; 3:14-15; 4:6) Paul tells us how we can live a holy life. We must seek to take on the character of God. Paul answers how we should imitate God with three “walks.”He urges us to:
- Walk in love (Eph. 5:2) 2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
- Walk in light (Eph. 5:8) 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
- Walk in wisdom (Eph. 5:15) 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
