The attached information about the history of the Salem (Kentucky) Church was found in the files of N. W. Burks who served as the minister there from 1930-1941. I just happened to pick this up earlier this week while looking for something else, and noticed that this was the program for the congregations 100th anniversary. Please note, that this was 65 years ago this very month. Therefore, the Salem church is celebrating her 165th anniversary this month of August 2019. The list of ministers who have served at Salem during the history is extremely interesting to me. The list includes many very prominent and faithful preachers of the Gospel of our Lord. I found the explanation about the name of the congregation to be most interesting. Considering whether to call themselves a Christian Church or a Church of Christ led them to be called simply the Salem Church. (The last time I was there, I did notice the glass over the front door saying “Christian Church”.) In any event; This congregation located just east of Cynthiana, KY was apparently an outgrowth of the great event at nearby Cane Ridge some time earlier. I trust that the information contained in this history will renew memories of yours about both the congregation and the persons who were instrumental in it’s long and faithful history. May God Bless, Jim Rowe
