Again, I want to thank the congregations and individuals who contributed to help me make the mission trip to Mindanao. It was a great experience for me and it let me know first-hand what was happening in the Lord’s work there. It’s one thing to know about what is happening, but when you are there in person, you see the fruit of the work.
Don Carlos Janes (1877-1944) said and wrote many years ago in “Missionary Messenger,” that “the brethren will give more when they are taught more.” What he meant was that if people know about a mission work and you keep them informed of the work, then they are more likely to be interested enough to first, pray, and then perhaps support the work.
Since I have returned on April 17th I have tried to report about our trip. In May I gave a report at the monthly area Church Leaders Meeting at Cherry Street Church of Christ in New Albany, IN. It was well received.
I have been trying to arrange to visit some of our supporting congregations to tell them about my trip and update them on what happened and also on some of the events that have transpired since I came back on April 17th.
On Sunday, June 25, 2017 I was blessed to be with the Buechel Church of Christ in Louisville, KY where Bro. Bud Ridgeway preaches. I presented a PowerPoint presentation of the mission trip. As I showed some of the many photos that Steve and I took, I made some comments.
I received many good comments on the presentation and the folks said they were praying for our work.
On Sunday morning, July 9, 2017 I will be reporting about our mission trip at the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ near Linton. Sunday School and on Sunday night at the Dugger Church of Christ in Dugger, IN. Both of these congregations have been faithful supporters for many years of our mission efforts in the Philippines.
I will give a report of those 2 visits in our July Newsletter. I am scheduled to be with the Sellersburg Church of Christ in Sellersburg, IN on Sunday night, July 31, 2017 and will be with the Hamburg Church of Christ in Sellersburg some Sunday morning in August. Please keep our work in your prayers. Also, keep Bro. Cyrus and the other Filipino preachers in your prayers. Bro. Cyrus is going to Manila sometime in July for a follow-up on his Heart Bypass Surgery.
If you would like me to come to your congregation, contact me at 502-235-4482 or email me. My email address is larrymiles1952@gmail.com. Since I am working again, I can only visit churches in KY and IN. ( I might be able to come to Gallatin, TN also. Keep Looking Up! Jesus may Come Today!
