From Sonny Day Devo:

The U.S. Destroyer

www.sonnychilds.com

It was a very foggy night. The World War 2 ship was on patrol in the Atlantic when they noticed a light shining through the thick haze. “Signal that ship to change course by ten degrees west!” the captain commanded.

The reply came back, “Change your course by ten degrees to the east.” Indignant, the war ship responded, “I am a captain. Change your course!” Moments later, “I am a seaman second class. Change your course.”

This time the message was laced with a threat of combat. “I am the captain of a U.S. destroyer. Change your course immediately or you WILL suffer the consequences!”

 – Brief pause –

“This is the lighthouse. Change your course by ten degrees.”

Devotional

John 1:4-5 (NIV) “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

The only way to be right with the light is to surrender to it.
