Prophecy Seminar 2015—In The Shadow Of The Horsemen

by Don McGee

DonMcGeeOnce again, and for the final time this week, I greet you in the name of the Lord and say welcome to each one of you.  I am pleased that you have chosen to be here tonight.

Let's open in prayer. Lord, this time is yours, we have some things that we want to say. We want these things to be in context with that You've said in Your word. We want to make an application to the days in which we are living for Your glory.  We thank You in His name, Amen.

We've talked about signs this week that have to do with the coming of the Lord. I thought that I would end tonight with not so much a description of the signs that we talked about earlier, technology, morality, and all that kind of thing, but signs that have to do directly with what is going to happen soon after the removal of the church. I don't know why God chose to reveal what he revealed to John in Revelation the way He did. Seals and trumpets and bowls and seven of each. The whole book was written with parenthetical insertions. I don't know why God did that. He had His reason for doing that. It is incumbent upon us to study it, to move through it. Revelation is not difficult to understand. The details present us a challenge in trying to place logic alongside of some of the things that we see there, but Revelation in itself, according to Dr. Henry Morris, is not hard to understand. It's hard to believe, that's the problem, it's hard to believe.  What I am going to do is I am going to look at the first four seals in chapter 6 and I want to talk about some things that are leading up to the fulfillment of the breaking of those seals.  It is entitled, “In The Shadow Of The Horsemen.”

Jesus said, in Matthew 24:21, “For there will be a great tribulation.” Now He didn't use the definitive article “the” here, He called it a great tribulation and if we stop there, we could think, well there have been many great tribulations in the history of humanity and this will be simply one more of those. He goes on to describe it. He says, “Such has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever shall.” This tribulation is going to be a type that is unprecedented. Jesus also said in Matthew 24:34, “When you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. This generation will not pass away until all these things take place.”

I believe a helpful key in understanding this, as we get into it, is that in Matthew 23, the events that are mentioned, the woes, remember He would say, “Woe unto you scribes and pharisees, hypocrites.” The events that would come upon the generation was the generation to whom he was speaking and it happened in A.D. 70. In Matthew 24, regarding tribulation events, he uses the same words. He says, “This will come upon this generation.” It was the generation of whom He was speaking.  The fulfillment of Matthew 23 occurred in A.D. 70. The fulfillment of those things in Matthew 24, in my opinion, are still future. I believe that the church is going to be removed prior to this time. There are good brethren out there who disagree with that. Some are post-millennial, some are amillennial, but we are all brethren.  I want to emphasize that.  I just don't think that these things should be icons of divisions and things you go to seed on.

I believe the taking out of the church is before these things happen. I also believe that the time immediately prior to tribulation is the buildup to the beginning of the tribulation and the breaking of the seven seals.  I believe that we are seeing that happen today.  I want to be very clear about something.

The way I see it, my opinion is that the 7-year tribulation period does not begin with the removal of the church.  Not at all!  In my opinion, it begins with the signing or the brokering of a treaty, the signing of a document that will be brokered some by western entity.  In my opinion, coming out of western Europe. So many people think as soon as the rapture happens, the tribulation begins.  No folks, that's not how it works. We are so used to taking our little time lines and drawing our charts and our tick marks that we get to the point where it becomes something that it is wrote in memory as opposed to something that is immersed in study and we say here's the taking out of the church, the great tribulation begins and all of that. No, no. We do not know how much time will go between the taking out of the church and the beginning of the tribulation period. It could be days, it could be weeks, we don't know, we were not told.  God didn't tell us, so don't try to put a time on it.

I've heard people says, well that's that extra 45 days over there and all that kind of thing. I don't know that and I don't really care. I don't care, I'm not going to be here. I don't care how much time it is. If God had told us how much time there would be, I would tell you what I believe to be what He said, but He didn't tell us.  I believe that the church will definitely be gone at that time.

The theme that we are going to weave through these comments tonight is that the world is encapsulated in the dark shadow of those approaching tribulation events right now.  I do not think that we can say any longer the world will see. I think that we can say today, the world is seeing. The way I want to do this is first I want to give you some evidence showing the nearness of the events of the four horsemen and then secondly, I want to do a very, very brief exposition of the actual events associated with the first four seals of Revelation 6.

With your Bibles open in your lap, please turn to Revelation 6. Revelation chapter 6, I am going to read the first eight verses.

“And I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, "Come." (That is in the imperative.) “I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, "Come." And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men should slay one another; and a great sword was given to him. When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, "Come." I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, "A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine." When He broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, "Come."  I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.”

The white horse is the appearance, in my opinion, of antichrist and his agenda of global peace. Now I want to stop right here. Many good brethren see this differently. I have a book in my library where a man, if I mentioned his name you would know exactly whom I'm talking about, a man very, very familiar with us in our efforts, who did not believe that this was antichrist. He believed it was Christ. I strongly disagree with him. He is with the Lord now and he knows more than I do about it. Probably knew more about it before he died, but I strongly disagree with him.

The red horse has to do with worldwide war. The black horse has to do with worldwide famine. The pale horse or the ashen horse, has to do with worldwide pall of death. There is a difference between the other three and this last horse for a particular reason, in my opinion.

Let's consider some evidence pointing to the white horse or the antichrist. There is no global leadership today. There are some guys out there who would love to be global leaders, but they are not qualified to be antichrist.  I get emails and I get questions all the time.  A guy sent me a letter the other day.  He had it figured out, he knows who is the antichrist and he knows all of this stuff. I thought this guy ought to be a Th.D. in some seminary somewhere because he knows everything. The way that he came to his conclusions is the most cockamamie thing I've ever seen in all my life. He knew who the world leader was going to be, by name. Brethren, may I emphasize this so strongly. We do not know who is antichrist. All our guessing and all our finagling around with numbers and numerology and all of that stuff is a crock of hogwash. It doesn't amount to a hill of beans!  The point of the matter is that we do not know who is antichrist, nor will we know until he appears. The reason he has not appeared at this moment is because he who restrains him is still here because God has not founded the time of his appearing, but there is something else. The world is not yet ready for global leadership.  We have borders on maps and we have constitutions in various countries and we have this concept of sovereignty that is still alive and well in many places.  Not so much in our country as it used to be, but it is still here. We see the groundwork being laid. Increasing global fears are leading to the demand for somebody to do something. Nationalism is on it's way out, even in this country.

In America, fear is increasing.  We have a growing distaste for big government.  We have a growing resentment of the clear governmental annulment of constitutional liberty and fear of probable imposition of martial law based upon a president's or another bureaucrat's definition of national emergency. When that moment comes, a national emergency is declared, martial law will be imposed. It has happened already in the history of our country and the next time it happens, it will be to such a degree that we could never imagine.  I believe that one of the things that scares Americans is the crash of the dollar, it's in the toilet, and the fear that the American dollar will lose it's status of world reserve currency. Why do you think so many investors are putting many overseas.  Why do you think they are investing in returns from the Euro.  I've got a friend of mine who is buying up Iraqi money as fast as he can get his hands on it.  Those are fears in America.  Similar fears are worldwide.  There is a fear of totalitarianism by way of political fascism, religious fanaticism. There is a fear of economic ruin in Europe and the growing availability of weapons of mass destruction to rogue nations and groups. The whole world is scared. Because of that, the world is getting to the place where they are desiring and, in some quarters, already demanding a great worldwide Fuehrer and some people want him now.  The world seeks a leader who is fail-safe. Do an internet search for antichrist and see what you come up with. I've done that several times, as probably you have. I haven't found any one fail-safe in the whole bunch. They want somebody who is going to deliver peace. They want a mortal with valor, intellectual prowess, superb oratorical skills and good looks. They want relief from self responsibility in life and they want their leader to make the decisions. Do you remember in the '90s in one of Bill Clinton's campaigns he was in, was it Virginia (?), and he had one of his town hall meetings, or whatever he called them back then. There was this guy in the audience, I remember he had a ponytail, nothing against ponytails, you guys want to wear ponytails, that's your business, I don't know about all of that.  This guy with a ponytail stood up and he said, “We are your children.  We want you to take care of us.”

I didn't really know what to do. Valerie got nervous, afraid I was going to be looking for my .45 to   shoot the TV or something.  Did he say what I thought he said? Yes. You see, people are wanting somebody to take responsibility for them. They want somebody to make the decisions for them. All they want is to be able to sit there on their raunchy backsides with a handout and for somebody to put money in their hands. They won't concern themselves with making any kind of decision. It doesn't matter that liberty will be removed from them. They don't give a rip about liberty.  For those who have fought for it, liberty has a taste of protection we'll never know!

What that man said that day was a detestable, repulsive kick in the groin to any man with a single molecule of testosterone in his veins! And yet, that's where we are. The world wants someone to sing them a political lullaby so that they can sleep without fear and he's coming.

Some of you might remember this guy. His name was Henri Spaak. He was the Prime Minister of Belgium, among other things that he did in his life. This is what Spaak is alleged to have said and I can find no reputable resource to say that he did not say it, but it is attributed to him. “What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the alliances of all people and to lift us out of the economic morass into which we are sinking. Send us such a man and be he god or devil, we will receive him.” That's what the world is looking for.

There are a couple of things to remember regarding the world and the coming Gentile Fuehrer.

Look at some evidence pointing to the red horse, armed conflict. War is always happening in some place, in some form, for some reason. I don't care what day it is, choose a day, choose any day, go back as far as you want in history, and conflict is happening somewhere. Why is this so? Why is there conflict? In my opinion, it's because until the Prince of Peace rules, warfare will always be an intrinsic characteristic of humanity. This milk of human kindness business that might be in human hearts, is completely incapable of neutralizing it's dominant alter ego.  The drive to subdue, to exploit, and to kill.

Why did Cain kill Abel? It's because his Adamic nature demanded something more than peace talks. War has many causes and I want to look at a couple of them here.

International political instability leads to war. Study the causes of World War I and you will see that that is one of the primarily illustrations of that statement. Look at instability, how it is growing in the United States. We are a divided country. Fifty percent pay no taxes and receive entitlement money. There is serious distrust of government. There is a growing disdain for bureaucratic annulment of the constitution, whether you are talking about the Transportation Safety Administration or any other branch. They are signs indicating that we are going to see the virtual annulment of Posse Comitatus which is quartering of troops in private homes which will be taken to another level, in my opinion. Let me give you an illustration of that. When federal troops come to your property and tell you that the water well that you paid to drill and to maintain, no longer belongs to you because the water in the aquifer belongs now to the government. They will take it as they desire. That's part of the Department of Agriculture's plans.

This kind of thing leads to revolutionary wars and can escalate into both regional and world conflicts. In totalitarian governments, war deflects attention from governmental failure and repression toward a common enemy. Often the conflict and the enemy are manufactured. The truth, however, never interferes with government's agenda and becomes the first casualty in conflict.

I think I mentioned this, maybe at Kentucky Avenue, I may have mentioned this. The 1964 Gulf of Tonkin resolution, I don't remember if I did, I thought I did. Some of you can remember those days. JFK had sent advisers into Southeast Asia, to Vietnam. Johnson was president at this time. The claim was that a North Vietnamese, what we would call a PT boat, attacked a U.S warship in the Gulf of Tonkin. They passed a resolution which gave the president to send many troops and materiel to Vietnam.  The consequence of this very questionable event was that over 58,000 men were killed in

action, 153,000 were wounded and maimed, 1,664 were POWs and MIAs, some of whom the United States government left in prison camps to die in slave labor. I will NEVER believe that everybody came home in '73. There were too many sightings of possible and probable POWs in Laos and Cambodia post '73.

Internal instability is growing almost daily. You can believe the government, both our government and others will do something to obscure and hide it's own corruption and failure. Do you all remember anything about this transparency thing? Does that ring a bell? But there are also external or worldwide instabilities that can also lead to war. External instability is growing. The world's problems are unprecedented due to a shrinking world, any nation scattered geographical interests invite growing opportunities for military engagements. These circumstances have always been here, so what makes things different today.

I give you three of my reasons.

  1. Never before have these dynamics been in a position to rapidly morph into global issues and confrontations.
  2. Never before in history has it been possible for what is coming in Revelation 6 and following to be the direct result of anything past generations have seen.
  3. All of that is no longer true. The shadow of Revelation 6 looms over this generation that is represented in this building tonight. We can see Revelation 6 today much more clearly than it could be seen 50 years ago.

War. In 5600 years of recorded history, there have been probably 15,000 major wars. About 4 billion people killed, 20th century about 200 million. Since World War II, about 30 wars per year where 90% of the casualties are civilians.  Since 1989, about 128 armed conflicts, this data is about a year old.  About a quarter of a million deaths each year.  War is with us folks, it ain't going anywhere.

Look at evidence pointing to the black horse, which is famine. Famine is simply nothing, or not enough, to eat. There are three major causes from the stuff that I can put together.

I believe that Revelation 6 will include crop failure due to weather, environmental disasters due to judgments, and government policies. There won't be so much direct overpopulation because with reduced population you have less people, but a much greater reduced food supply, you have famine.

Do you all remember Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong-il, and Kim Jong-un's starvation of the North Korean civilian population in order to feed their unnecessarily large military machine. That is happening as I speak right now. That guy over there is a nut! I think he knows that he can push so far, but he likes to rattle the saber and see how close he can get. North Korea has a military machine of 1.2 million active duty troops and 8.2 million reservists. We don't have anything even close to that. Of course, we've got some firecrackers they don't have.

Modern famines are increasing.  They are increasing in numbers and consequently there is an increase

in the number of millions of people who die as a result. This is an incomplete list. In a 45-year period, '45 to '90, there were 11 famines. A 22-year period, '90 to '12, there were 8 famines and 14 devastating food crises. If you look back at this, if you go back and look at the causes, this is what I found: War, drought, government policies, storms, and withholding from civilians what food was available and giving it to the military.

Food is a major United States export for now, but that could end very quickly. Do you remember the impact of the drought of 2012?  By the way, have you seen an increase in beef prices lately.  I wanted  to make some beef jerky in my dehydrator. I said, “Honey, I don't know, bring me back 4 or 5 pounds.” She came in, I looked on the counter and I saw what she paid for that, I smiled. I said, “You didn't buy half a beer, you bought a few pounds, and this is ground meat!”  She said, “Dad, you need to understand something, it ain't like it used to be.”

Anything affecting US production affects worldwide food prices. One commentator said, “If countries start unilaterally panic buying or restricting exports, that could make a bad problem worse. The situation right now is one of heightened vulnerability to any future's shocks.”

I used to farm a little bit. I worked on a farm most of my life, a lot of my life and I am still very much close to the dirt and I like it. It would not take very much for a lot of people to get hungry in this country. Wait, Don, yeh but don't we have all this crop land, especially in the Mississippi Delta? Don't we have all that?

There are basically three large grain companies. Those grain companies are dependent on a lot of things. They are dependent upon weather and all of that. If they can't get it in the Mississippi Delta, they'll get it out of Brazil and Brazil can hold us hostage, or any other country if they want to. There is something else that I mentioned the other night. You let the course of the Mississippi River change and Cargill, one of the big three, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will have all of it's barges sitting on sandbars.

The following is what is happening right now. Jesus is savior.com says 18,000 children starve to death each day. Wasted food.com says 40% of all food produced in America is wasted. Go to a buffet and watch them pig out. They will belly-up to the buffet line and they'll load that sucker up. Look, we got the best seafood in 9 worlds and people will go there, they bring out king crab by the baskets and dump them in there.

People will load up everything. They don't put crawfish and crab on plates, they put it on big trays. You see people up there and they eat and eat and eat and eat until they can't put another morsel in their mouth, but they just went back to the bar and they've got 7 more big king crab claws and 7 more pounds of crawfish. You know what they do with that? That's dumped in a big garbage can. Some American dogs get more protein than most people in the world. There's something wrong with that picture.

Population increase in billions.  In 1800 there were a billion, 1927 there were 2 billion, that's a period of 127 years. From '99 to 2011, a period of 12 years, it went from 6 billion to 7 billion. It is still going up.

Well, what about evidence pointing to the ashen horse...death. The world death rate is 7.99 for every 1000 population, or about 107 deaths per minute or 1.8 deaths every second. That's about a 2 or 3- year-old estimate. Death happens. Like war happens...death happens and it ain't stopping, not for a while.

Death was the first enemy and it's going to be the last. It is still the main enemy. I believe that, as human beings, if we could look in the rear-view mirror of history, we will see that history has turned a curve, a curve noticed by only a few people, because never before in history has any generation seen the possibility of the almost immediate appearance of the ashen horse. Our generation is seeing it today. It's not just the capacity of such widespread death that is among us today, but it's the fact that such widespread death is crossing the very shoal of our world right now.

The ashen horse in short, there is no historical or modern precedent that is anywhere near what is coming with the rider of this ashen horse. The capacity for such destruction is here, but it has never been used to kill 25% of the population, or anything even close to it.

Now, let's do a brief exposition.  I am going to go through this part pretty quickly.

The white horse. He is not Jesus. Jesus is described in Revelation 19. The white horse that we read about a while ago is in Rev 6. In chapter 6, the rider has a bow without arrows. In chapter 19, the rider has a sword. In 6, the crown that this guy is wearing is a victor's crown, a stephanos. In chapter 19, the crown is a sovereign's crown, or a diadem. In chapter 6, the time is the beginning of judgment.  In 19, it's the end of judgment. Who is this guy? I believe he is the false counterfeit Christ, the antichrist. He arrives, he sees, and he conquers promising peace. No arrows are needed at first because I believe, in my opinion, he's going to conquer with covenants and this signals the beginning of the 70 week of years for the Jews.

Now, you see this nefarious-looking guy right here? You see this good-looking, good-smelling, good- talking, coiffured hair dude?  Of the two, which do you think best portrays antichrist.  That's him.  If you do the search on antichrist, you are going to come up with some of the most gosh-awful looking caricatures, these evil, horrid-looking things. You think he's going to win public opinion if he shows up looking like the personification of Satan that has been in hell for a millennia? By the way, there's nobody in hell today.  I just use that as an illustration.

This guy is going to be more like...what's that actor's name, I forget his name, doesn't matter, but that's going to be what he's going to look like.

What should the world expect?  The world should expect a time of turmoil and this guy is going to offer what the masses will demand which is peace, affluence, and license. He will be the final great Gentile ruler, the final great Gentile empire and in my opinion,  he is alive and well today.

The red horse. Of course, we said that is war. Any peace that the other guy brought, is gone. He voids any peace that the world wanted. We see a predominance of blood shed. I have read a lot of guys in their commentaries about this and I have done, of course, my own study like you have. There is a guy who wrote in the 19th century named J. A. Seiss. Some of you might have some of his work.  He makes a comment on this. He said that this guy is going to have a great sword and that is the first thing that I thought of right there, kind of the Braveheart sword. You all certainly remember that in the movie where he chops the heads off and the legs off and they are using a great big sword.  That's not really it. I thought then, well, it has to be a Calvary saber. When I was in the Army, in certain uniforms I wore a saber, it was part of our dress uniforms. No, that's not it either.  That's not what this great sword is about.

Actually, what is meant is a dagger used in personal, ordinary violence. We would call it today an assassin's weapon.  It's akin to Ehud's sword in Judges 3.  Remember how he killed the Moabite king, Eglon, he was a fat man and he shoved it up to the hilt in his belly and all his intestines and all that came out. You all remember that in Judges 3. That's what this is.  Now, if this is an assassin's weapon, as opposed to a military weapon or a Calvary weapon, why would God use this term and call it a great sword? I believe it is because, with the taking out of the church, it's going to be a time of private vengeance and a day of unleashed lust and greed. I believe that this time is going to be a time when people are going to loot, rob, and do anything to anyone that they can get away with and there's not anybody that's going to be able to stop them. Think about the vacuum that will be created with the removal of the church. When these things start popping and these things start happening in the geophysical area of where we live, the earth, and that kind of thing...think about the restrictions that will be put upon emergency services to respond to needs. Look, they do it already! They did it in Ferguson, Missouri.  What the heck is going to keep them from doing it in your neighborhood?

In Hurricane Katrina you have never seen human beings chose to lower themselves to the level of animals like those people did. Not everybody, but a lot of them did. The first couple of days out of Katrina, news sources were talking about the raping, the murdering, and the stealing, and everything that was going on in the Super Dome and in the World Trade Center there. All of sudden it was stopped. Nothing was said about it. Well, I want to tell you something. It happened. It happened. Forget what the government is telling you, it happened.

This is the Super Dome. These are thousands and thousands of people around it. They have more than that inside, but since there was no electricity, no air conditioning, and no water, conditions got really bad inside, so they went outside.

This is a raised portion of the highway right here and the only way to get water to those people was with helicopters.  They fired with weapons upon the helicopters that brought them MREs and water.

The black horse. This has to do with famine. Shortage of food means a couple of things. It means rising prices and it means ration.

War inherently brings famine, they go together. It says that a quart of wheat would be equivalent to a day's wage.  What does that mean?  I'm not sure.  I give you my opinion.  I think it means that this is the least amount of provision that is necessary for one man to do one day's work. If you take a quart of wheat and you mill it, you can get some subsistence from it and you can work. It will give you some nutrients and it will give you some calories and that kind of thing. If you are responsible for one dependent or two dependents or three dependents, what are you doing to do? Barley, it mentions barley there. You know what that is? That's stuff you give horses, mules, and hogs. It's animal food. He mentioned something here that I never did really understand and even now I don't. I go back to Seiss because he says some things here that I find interesting. I don't know what God meant here, what the Lord meant when He said don't harm the oil and the wine.  Seiss says this, now not everything Seiss says in Revelation I agree with it, don't misunderstand me. The man was a thinker. He believes that people will reject historically staple food and will demand delicacies which to themselves will quickly become both loathsome and scarce.  Try to live on filet mignon 3 times a day, 7 days a week for a couple of years and see what you think about that great cut of meat. It reminds me of what happened in the Old Testament. In Numbers chapter 11, when the people demanded meat.  You know, I think that had they gone to Moses and said, “You know Moses, you know the donuts from heaven is pretty good stuff, we like that you know, but we would like some protein, some meat.” I think Moses would have went to the Lord and said Lord, this is the deal and the Lord says, okay, I'll give you some. They didn't do that. That's not the way they handled it. They demand some things and they pitched a hissy fit and this is what God said, “Not one day shall you eat nor two days, nor five days, neither 10 days, nor 20

days, but for a whole month (talking about quail, meat) until it comes out your nostrils and it becomes loathsome to you. Because you have despised Jehovah who is among you and have wept before Him saying, 'why did we leave Egypt (oh God, if we could have just stayed in Egypt we would have had some green onion, and we could have had some rice and gravy and we could have had all that.....

God says, you want meat, uh-huh, I'm going to give you some meat. God's judgment, I believe, will be to remove the good that they despise and force them to live on secular luxuries which very quickly become empty and loathsome.

On another plain, I believe it's going to be a time of complete immersion into mind-numbing, sanity robbing entertainment and informational media at the expense of truth. The oil and the wine, luxuries. I believe that it is possible that during this time, people will starve to death while watching antichrist propaganda machine on 3-D televisions with the latest in surround-sound technology, in my opinion.

Ashen horse, the last one. Ashen is a green color. Actually the word here is chloro and it has, as you well know, to do with chlorophyll, a pale, green, leprous color. Sometimes people tell me I'm too descriptive, but I believe in shucking it on down the cob. The green that is mentioned here is the color of a putrefying human cadaver. Now, I could have shown you some pictures from Katrina where people were hung up over fences and as the water went down they would find them. Their bodies had been out in the hot sun, the heat, and humidity for probably a couple of weeks or so and I could have shown you what this is. I thought, I don't know if they can handle that, so better not. So, I didn't do that. It's called postmortem lividity.  It's a condition when your heart stops beating you die and whatever position your body falls in, the gravity takes over and the blood goes to the lowest part of the body. You don't have the old pump going, it's not circulating, so it's just kind of falls. After a while, it turns a leprous green color. It's the color of about a 5-day-old bad bruise. When I was doing another line of work, I had to take some training in child abuse and know how to gage the time of bruises and all that kind of thing. It looks like a real bad bruise. If you want to see a real bad bruise, you go to somebody that was in a bad car wreck and who didn't die and then look at their bruises after about a week or so.  That's this color, kind of has a purple hue to it also.

This rider is death and he enhances the effects of the other riders with what I could call great excess. Twenty-five percent of those alive at this time will die and death is going to come in the natural progression.  Sword, famine, disease, and wild beasts.

I did mention this at Kentucky Avenue, I believe. What do you think it means when he talks about wild beasts? We understand about the war, the famine, and the disease. What about this wild beast business. Well, I mentioned earlier this week that the Gilgamesh record of the flood says that there were attacks on human beings by wolves and lions just prior to the flood of Noah's day. There is something similar here. With the depopulation of humans, there is going to be a loss of food sources for animals because of the judgments and the judgments are going to affect them just like it's going to affect human beings. There is going to be an increase in their hunger and their boldness to enter populated areas.

Some of you might be following the mountain lion migration. I wondered about that. Why? Why are they increasing in the areas they are? I don't know, but I do know that one of the most dangerous animals on the planet is the rat. It's a carrier of disease. When I was a young man working my way through college, I worked at a grain warehouse in Opelousas, Louisiana. They would bring 18- wheelers in there and they would open those suckers up and they would just dump grain, wheat, and soybeans and everything. They would dump them out, they were handling that stuff with large front- end loaders and all that kind of thing. There were two animals that I saw a lot of, working in that dusty

place. One of them was birds and the second was rats. Next time you open that box of Kellogg's Toasty Wheaties, or whatever that is, just keep that in mind. Add to that mosquitoes and all kinds of other vermin and you've got a situation there.

This creature is followed by Hades. That's the grave, the dark region of the dead that is never used for Christians. It is personified as a monster that stalks the human race in the wake of this green horse rider.

In conclusion, to not make the connection between what we presently see happening and the events of Revelation 6 is to miss what God is so clearly trying to show us. There is a connection. At times, the study of post-rapture events can so capture our attention that we can forget this fact that we are going to be out of here when all of this happens, in my opinion.

The angel sent to destroy Sodom said something to Lot that we need to hang onto. Remember Lot was hesitating and he said come on, we need to get out of here. Why did the angel tell him to hurry up, we need to get out of here. Why? Do you remember what the angel said.  He said, ‘I can't do a thing until you're out of here.’ I think that is one more mark of assurance. Yes, we are living in the shadow, you bet we are living in the shadow and it's not getting any better. Things could get worse as the Lord tarries. If the Lord tarries for another whatever amount of time, we're going to see some tough times. Christians in other parts of the world are seeing them. What makes us think that we might not? I can tell you this, based upon my study, this is my conviction...God sends the time, He's fixing to zap this thing, but He can't zap it until we're out of here.  With that, I rest in hope.

Would you stand?  I want to lead us in prayer and then we are going to have our closing song.

Lord, there are so many things that we don't really know regarding the details, but there are some things that we can know and that is that You love us and that Jesus died for us, He rose again, and that He is coming back for us.  We see things differently, returning the events following the taking out of the church and yet we are brethren, and we will always be. We respect each other, but this we do agree on, that Jesus is coming back for us. That's our hope Lord and that is so precious that there can be no price applied to it, it cannot be bought with fine gold, so we rest in that.  There is an old cliché Lord that says we don't know what the future holds, but we know that You hold the future and we have peace in that, so thank you.  In Jesus name, amen.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
