KENTUCKIANA BIBLE COLLEGE GRADUATE: DON MERCER, 61, has gone home to be with our Lord after a long and hard struggle. He graduated from Ahren’s Trade School and most recently, the Kentuckiana Bible College. Donald is preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy and. and Kenneth Mercer. He is survived by his parents, Forrest and Juanita Mercer; loving sister, Sandy Bolen (Jim); and a large, caring, extended family. A service of celebration of the life of Bro. Don was on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Jim and Betty Gillaspie shared several of Don’s favorite songs. Don’s brother-in-law, Jim Bolen, shared a very personal and heart-warming eulogy giving thanks to all who reached out to Don and his many years of sickness. He attended the KY-AVE Church of Christ where he served faithfully his Lord. He will be missed but Heaven has once again become more precious to each of us as we look forward to seeing Don again.
PORTLAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL…to open September 4, 2012 with the High School moving to the Westport Road Campus. It’s been a busy summer with numerous volunteers helping get the school ready. The inspector came the last week in August and the school PASSED the test (newly hung doors, laminate floors, painting and more painting, ramps, cleaning and more cleaning etc., etc., etc.) Continue to remember the school in prayer as many opportunities are given to teachers and administrators for teaching the Word of God. The Eastside Campus is located at 8509 Westport Rd., Louisville, Kentucky and will house K-12 – and the “Little School.” Take time to visit and see “what God has wrought.” The campus at 2500 Portland Ave. will house K-8th grades.
INNER PEACE
If you can start the day without caffeine.
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains.
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles.
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it.
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time.
If you can take criticism and blame with out resentment.
If you can conquer tension without medical help.
If you can relax without a massage.
If you can sleep without the aid of sleeping drugs.
THEN, you are probably…
The Family Dog!
MISSIONARIES
On behalf of the Church of Christ Worldwide I am writing to encourage you to respond to our annual Prayer / Praise Booklet to be distributed by Thanksgiving 2012. Beginning in October, I will be gathering and updating material that can be sent to supporting congregations and individuals who are interested in missions.
This year, I am including an attachment that asks that you take time and fill out specific questions. It will not take very long but the information you provide will be an encouragement to those who send funds through the Church of Christ Worldwide. Our office staff consists of David Harding (Director) Betsy Harding (Administrative Assistant) and Stanna Page (Treasurer) As you know, these three are committed to serving you by donating their time and energies every week. They continue to do a great work on your behalf and I am personally thankful for their “work of faith and labor of love.”
All information should be returned to me by the first of November. That will give me time to edit, arrange, and proof read before going to our printer, Richard Mullins. The questionnaire should be self-explanatory, but should you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask. You need not write a novel but supply information I am requesting.
If you feel there are other works that should be included – please advise. But remember, the works that presently appear in the Prayer/Praise Booklet are works that have received funds and forwarded through the Church of Christ Worldwide. I realize that are other works personally sponsored by individual congregations and that is great but space is limited. Thanks again for your participation and my prayer is that the Lord will continue to bless you and the work there and our congregations can be better informed to make their prayers more specific.
Information / questionnaires etc should be sent to:
