The Ladies Inspiration Day held at Cherry St. Church of Christ on April 9, 2022, was very well attended. Due to the Covid situation, those of us who were involved in the planning were praying for at least 50. God did a good bit better than that and we had over 80 ladies, babies and children there. (Someone said, “You just can’t out-pray God.) If I counted right in the sign in lists, there were over 20 churches (of various locations and names) represented. We had prayed for nice weather and although that day in various places we had rain, snow, sleet, and wind, it didn’t hamper anyone’s arrival. Perhaps our good crowd was because it had been at least two years since we were able to meet for LID and they were looking forward to being together..
The program was very pretty with pictures of tea service items and included this scripture:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off
everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy that was set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12: 1-2.
The main theme addressed the trials that we, as Christians, sometimes endure, and that teach us to depend on God. Speakers for the day were Gloria Olberding, who read the story that inspired our title that was taken from the story of a little tea cup and all the different steps it had to go through before it was finished and ready to be of use to the maker.
Rebecca Parr spoke on “Have You Ever Been Tempted:”.
Kathryn Pekinpaugh spoke on “Have You Been Criticized or Questioned?”
Sandra Naugle spoke on “Have You Ever Been Disappointed?”
Ramona Marsh spoke on ‘Have You Suffered or Cared for Someone that was Suffering?” Katrina Morrow spoke on “Have You Suffered Injustice?”
Melanie Adams introduced the program and then at the end summarized and spoke on how we become a servant of God and live as God’s word instructs.
We had lovely special singing by the Adams’ sisters-in-law, Maria, Mariah, and Misty Adams. Maria Adams was our song leader and did a great job. The audience obviously enjoyed the special singing and the opportunity to raise our voices in praises to God.
Lunch was provided by ladies from several of the sponsoring churches, but the majority of the kitchen work was by the Cherry Street ladies, who really outdid themselves with the various items available on the buffet. There were several crockpots of soup, several different finger foods, fruit, and the dessert table was beautiful and so were the items on that table.
The dining tables were decorated with Spring pastels and were so pretty and on the tables were various teacups, saucers, and tea pots. A good many of the cups/saucers were provided from a collection gathered over the years by one lady that wanted them taken home by the attendees. There were indications on the bottom of the plates as to who went home with one.
It was so good to see younger women involved both in the planning and in the program and attending. We know that these young ladies will be active in the future Ladies Inspiration Days and in their various church homes. Cherry Street, Henryville, Lilly Dale, Sellersburg, and Utica Churches of Christ participated in this LID. We are thankful for the day and we look forward to the next Ladies Inspiration Day that will be held in 2023 in the Louisville, KY area.
