Joann Burks, 88, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021. Joann was born on Jan. 9, 1933.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Nathan; and her sister, Marilyn Dooley.
     Joann was born in Louisville, KY in 1933. She was a loving wife and mother, and a caring homemaker. She was active with her church, Buechel Church of Christ, and enjoyed sewing in her free time.
     She is survived by her children, David (Denise), Paul (Karen), Stuart (Bennie), and Annette Baker (Brad); grandchildren, Todd, Stephanie, and Bethany; and great-grandchildren, Cash, Olivia, Madelyn, and Rory.
     Visitation will be 3:00 – 8:00pm on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Funeral service will be at 10:00am on Saturday, October 16, at the funeral home, followed by interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
     The family wishes to thank Beehive Memory Care for their loving care and assistance over the past 3 ½ years.
     Expressions of sympathy may be made to Portland Christian School or to Hosparus Health of Louisville.

 

     Gallatin Church of Christ (TN) had their 107th Homecoming on October 10th.  Guest Speaker was Barry Fowler, who at one time was the Youth Minister at the church. Barry now lives close to Memphis, TN.  There was a good crowd and the day was enjoyed by all.  The new preacher at Gallatin is Eric Whelchel, who moved there from Utopia, Texas, about a month ago.

  Kentucky / Southern Indiana Church Leaders and wives will meet at Sellersburg Church of Christ on December 9th at 11:30  for their annual Christmas get together. Bring your own lunch.  It is always an enjoyable time.
