INGALLWOOD PARK–CYE AND HURRICANE LAURA UPDATE

Ingallwood Park, home of Christian Youth Encampment, was hit hard by Hurricane Laura.

It will take much time and much financial assistance to get the camp up and running for the 2021 CYE

Summer camp season but that is our plan with God’s will.  We humbly ask for your assistance in getting our beloved CYE back up and running.  Such would not only bring great honor to our Lord but would also be an unspeakable blessing to many yet unknown young people. With God’s blessing, the plan is to have the camp useable when the 2021 camp season arrives.

Losing three dear friends in a 2 week period is hard and that is what happened to this editor (Sandra Naugle) and husband. But what a blessing for these 3 to have now gone to be with their Heavenly Father.

KATE COULTAS passed away on November 16th.  Kate had been a resident of Heartland Villa Center in Lewisport, Ky. for 7 years and had excellent care.  Kate attended Southeastern Christian College in the late 50s and met her husband there. She was the wife of the late Harry Coultas and was a partner in ministry with Harry for many years.  Kate had a servant’s heart and was always ready to help anyone in need. She had a lovely voice and loved to praise her Lord in song. Her funeral was held on Nov. 18th at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City, IN. with graveside service at Lilly Dale Church of Christ Cemetery on Nov. 19th

CHARLES WEBER passed away on November 27. He was at home under Hospice care following extensive stays in the hospital until there was no further treatment that would help.  He had fought a 22 month battle with his illness. He attended Southeastern Christian College in the early 60s. Charles lived in Sellersburg and was a past elder and active member of the Sellersburg Church of Christ.  He met the love of his life, Carol (Bentley), at SCC.  Please keep Carol, Laura (Stan), Russell, and the rest of the family in your prayers.  The funeral is on Tuesday, December 1st at 11 am at the Sellersburg Church of Christ.  Visitation from 9 am to 11 am at the church.

WANDA OFFUT passed away on November 28 at home in the care of her dear friend, Libbie McMahan. Wanda attended Southeastern Christian College and met her husband there. She was the wife of the late Dale Offutt and they ministered together for many years.  She was a 44-year member of the Sellersburg Church of Christ. Wanda’s illness and death came suddenly. Wanda had many friends with whom she enjoyed life.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 pm to 8 pm at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg and from 9 am to 11 am with the funeral to follow at 11 am at the Sellersburg Church of Christ.

BUECHEL CHURCH OF CHRIST

Buechel Church of Christ in Louisville, KY, has closed its doors.  The property is being sold.  Below is the article in the last church bulletin by Bud Ridgeway, the minister of the church.

Editor’s Note:  I (Larry Miles) attended the last service on Sunday, November 8, 2020. I went to  be there to encourage the remaining  members. The  following article was in the bulletin.

                                                               For Our Family

This ends 107 years of service to the community of Buechel. I looked at some old records of the church while sorting through things that would be thrown away. Buechel at one time had close to 300 members back in the 50s and 60s. It is hard to say what happened to the church after that. But here we are closing the doors and moving on.

The thing we need to remember, is that this is just a building and we are but pilgrims in this land looking for a heavenly home. It is a sad day for all who have labored so long and hard in this work. We need not worry about those who have gone on before us to their reward. In heaven there is no sadness or sorrow for them. I think about Joyce Kuehr, who has been here at Buechel before this building was built. I know in my heart she will continue to worship God.

As I consider the congregation that will be moving on, I think about you and pray for you. We must remember that the church continues on today. We are not the total of the church. Jesus says, “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them,” (Matthew 18:20). That just means the Lord is with us wherever are. As for Betty and me, we will be attending Fishersville church of Christ. The one thing we can do is to go and support the other churches and help them. I may do some fill-in preaching or maybe teach a class but as a family we will continue to serve God.

As we close today (November 8, 2020) understand that we must continue worship at a church of Christ and there are several in the area. We love each of you!   -Bud and Betty Ridgeway
