What Must I Do To be Saved?

by Danny Broussard

In the book of Acts, chapter 2, we can read the powerful message that Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost. The response to this message was wonderful; 3,000 people were convicted of their lost condition and they cried out to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” Peter’s answer in Acts 2:38 was this:
“Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sin, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Let’s consider for a moment, what we read here.

  1. REPENTANCE – make a “U” turn and begin to journey through life 180° opposite of where we were going. Our journey will be toward God; not away from Him.
  2. BAPTISM – Jesus who had no sin, who needed no cleansing, gave us the perfect
His baptism in the Jordan river was pleasing to the Father, (“this is my Beloved Son in whom I am well-pleased”), and God expects no less from us.
  3. GIFT of the HOLY SPIRIT – the very Spirit of God, given to us to lead us and guide us. God’s Spirit changes our spirit and brings us into agreement with God’s will for us. “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God,…… the Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God.” Romans 8:14,16

My prayer today is that we will cherish and feel the preciousness of our relationship with our Heavenly Father. If you have not experienced the wonder of true repentance and obedience unto salvation, do not delay! “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Begin to live with the hope, that this may be the day that Jesus comes!
