CHURCH OF CHRIST WORLDWIDE in Lexington Kentucky operates under the auspices of the Cramer & Hanover Church of Christ. We are thankful for this continuing ministry of assisting churches and individuals in the distribution of funds. The Mission Office manages 32 accounts on a daily basis under the leadership of David & Betsy Harding and Stanna Page. Their “work of faith” and “labor of love” is greatly appreciated.
NEXT UP AND SPEAKING OUT ON ABORTION: Louisiana now joins several other states across the South and Midwest in passing a ban on abortions after a “fetal heartbeat” is detected, around six weeks, before many women know they are pregnant. Several red states across the country are taking aim at the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark abortion rights decision Roe v. Wade by passing some of the most restrictive abortion laws seen in years. (raptureready.com)
Indiana just recently received a favorable ruling form the US Supreme Court on their ‘Fetal Remains’ bill. It states that aborted babies must have either a burial or cremation. That they have to be treated in a humane way. This could be one of the first steps to having the unborn recognized as living human beings deserving of respect. A NUMBER OF SLOGANS (adapted) have been used in the Restoration Movement, which are intended to express some of the distinctive themes of the Movement. These include:
- “Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent.”
- “The church of Jesus Christ on earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one.”
- “We are Christians only, but not the only Christians.”
- In essentials, unity; in opinions, liberty; in all things love.”
- “No creed but Christ, no book but the Bible, no law but love, no name but the divine.”
- “Call Bible things by Bible names.”
Those of us in the Churches of Christ have indeed been blessed by a rich heritage. To commemorate our 50th year anniversary of the Kentucky-Indiana Christian Fellowship we published a commemorative booklet containing churches from Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas. The cover photo included over 40 preachers who were instrumental in the first fellowship meeting. Since that time numerous churches have closed their door but the Lord’s church remains. We continue to rely on Jesus’ promise in Matthew 16:18 “I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” (Introduction used in a sermon on I Corinthians by Bennie Hill on June 2, 2019.
