Committment

by Robin Embry

Reflections From The Rough

Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,  and he will establish your plans.

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Commitment – it seems we see less of it in all phases of our society. Whether it is career, relationships, marriage, faith, etc., we’re becoming a much less committed society. Perhaps selfishness and cynicism are driving factors? Perhaps those of us in position (parents, teachers, coaches, family leaders, community leaders, celebrities, political leaders, etc.) to model it are missing the mark?

As believers, we should display commitment on a daily basis – especially those of us in a position to model it to others. Our commitment should be easily seen in our parenting, teaching, coaching, leading our family, leading our community, etc. If our primary commitment is in building our relationship with Him and increasing our faith daily, it will be evident in how/why we do all things. Yes, imperfectly… but committed! Be blessed!

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
