Kingsfield Children’s Home

The Board of Directors at Kingsfield (former Maple Manor Children’s Home) and the Board of Directors of Childplace in Jeffersonville, IN, would like to announce a collaborative endeavor to care for a specialized segment of the at-risk population. Childplace has developed a small program for developmentally and intellectually delayed children or DD/ID in Jeffersonville. The program has grown beyond their current capacity. They have been considering expanding the program and we have underutilized facilities. Kingsfield will be collaborating with Childplace to develop an expanded DD/ID program here in Sellersburg. Childplace has the expertise and will administer the program at the current Kingsfield facilities.

Our mission has been to mentor the children in a professional way and to make the love of Jesus known to them. Caring and sharing ourselves with the children in a family like setting is a labor of love. It is not easy but it is rewarding. For some time the number of children we have received has been insufficient in number to support the services in our open residential format. We have made many changes in an attempt to redesign our methods and to develop new programs. However after three years, we have determined we must make a change. With an inadequate number of children we cannot continue the current program. However, we feel the new DD/ID program developed by Childplace will serve children in a specialized type of program for many years into the future.

On April 30, 2015, Kingsfield will notify the state with a 30 day notice that we are closing our open residential program at the end of May 2015. We will be working with the state and Childplace to incorporate all the children in our present program to their care. Children, if any, for which Childplace’s programs will not be suitable will be placed at other locations.

NEW MINISTER AT MACKVILLE CHURCH OF CHRIST (Kentucky)   Welcome to Bro. Steve Pater and his family.   Steve is 33 years old and married to Blanca. They have two daughters ages 4 & 2 and expecting another daughter in August. Steve was born and raised in Kentucky. He is medically retired from the military. After feeling the Lord’s leading, they moved to the country to raise their family.   After having moved to the community of Mackville, they were visited by some members of the church who invited them to attend.   After several speaking occasions, Steve was invited to become their full-time minister. We welcome Steve, Blanca, and their family to the Central Ky. Churches of Christ and especially to Mackville.

That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
