90 Years Ago – 1925 — “Word & Work” — From New Orleans: “We are entering into the new year with brighter hopes and better prospects. Had a stirring prayer meeting last night, with the best attendance of any mid-week meeting since I took up work with the church.”— Willis H. Allen.
80 Years Ago – 1935 “Word & Work.” From Dallas: ” Our work is still growing at Fair Park. Had 144 last Sunday at Bible School. Pray for us that we may all be true to the word and rich in faith and grow stronger in brotherly love.”- Mrs. Ruth Meggs.
75 Years Ago – 1940 — “Word and Work” — “We had a great watch-service meeting here in Jennings New Year’s eve. Visitors of several places among whom was the Ramsey family complete, and Brother Mayeux from Glenmora. Brother Ramsey and his two sons brought mas- sages filled with blessing. And Bro. Mayeux preached in both French and English. Some time was given to a French service due to the number of French brethren present. May God bless you through 1940, and may the great good being accomplished through the Word and Work and Great Songs of the Church increase and abound is my prayer. Pray for us continually. – Frank M. 50 Years Ago – 1965 — “Word and Work” –– Union Young People’s Meeting. ” A committee has been selected to take charge of the y-p meetings for 1965. It consists of Marvin Ball (Portland), Ronnie Hickman (18th Street) Bobby Ott (Bohon), Linda Offutt (Sellersburg). Sharon Clark (Rowan Street), and Bonnie Blansett (South Louisville). Meetings will continue to be held.”
40 Years Ago – 1975– “Word and Work.” — Jacksonville, Fla.”Both of the adult Sunday school classes arc now using the Word and Work lesson plans. We are truly thankful to God for this Christian publication which assists us in studying God’s Word.”
