John 14:26 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
That the Holy Spirit is our Helper is but a single aspect of His work. There is more.
Jesus said that He would teach the disciples “all things.” How does He do that? One sure source is Scripture. As my Instructor, He will show me the truth. (John 16:13)
The Holy Spirit is more than my Helper and Instructor. I am forgetful, but He reminds me of Jesus’ words (John 14:26). While listening to a troubled friend, a fitting Scripture comes to mind. How? Is that Him prompting you/me? He is my Reminder.
The Holy Spirit is my Helper, Instructor, and Reminder as permanent resident. This is for believers only. (1 Cor 6:19-20)
Think prepositions. He came “upon” Moses, Gideon, and Samson. (Num 11:17-29); (Judges15:14). He was in the “midst (among)” Israel (Isa 63:11). But that was temporary, intermittent. “Within,” unlike these other prepositions, confirms permanent residency. He is my in house Helper, Instructor, and Reminder.
Of course, there is more and I pray, “Open my eyes that I may see glimpses of truth Thou hast for me . . .”
