The annual Winter Youth Rally will be at Cherry Street Church of Christ in New Albany, Indiana on December 14th.  All youth 8th grade through the age of 20 are invited and encouraged to attend.  The rally will begin promptly at 9:30 and will end no later than 3:30.  The event is FREE but all participants are asked to bring a non-perishable food item (such as canned goods, dry cereal, etc.) to bless a local Christian family in need.  Lunch will be provided.  Kevin Parr will be leading us in worship.  Come for the faith, fun, fellowship, and food.  Please confirm your attendance by going to the Friends of Woodland Bible Camp facebook page or email Jeff Adams at jeffreywadams58@gmail.com.

THANKSGIVING SERVICE AT PORTLAND:  The attendance at this year’s 83rd Thanksgiving Service was 257 and the offering totaled $4,231.75.  The chorus again performed superbly and had large number of PCS & SCC alumni join in on the final song.  Brother Johnson did an impressive job of tailoring his message fit to the occasion and PCS specifically.  It was a uplifting and joyous event.   —- Houston Earl Cockrell

Kentuckiana Bible College (Ervin Denkins)  We have a new   web site.  Larry Miles  has   developed it and  will be  maintaining it.   Please  take time to  check it out.  A word of thanks for your support for Kentuckiana Bible College.  This semester, KBC has three full-time students at the Louisville campus, and several part-time students at three other satellite sites:  Waterford Church of Christ (Taylorsville, KY), Harrodsburg, KY and Denham Springs, Louisiana. Some of our students are taking correspondence classes.

Many of your congregations will be planning your 2014 budgets.  Please keep KBC in mind and make a way to help us monthly or quarterly.  We encourage you to join with others in a “Pick-A-Sunday” fundraiser drive.  Pick a Sunday and take up a special second collection.

NEWS & NOTESGenerally speaking, December is a slow month news wise!    Most churches are planning for the new year beginning in about 5 weeks.    Others are interested in NEWS from other churches i.e. revivals, special events, minister’s preaching series, youth news, celebrations.     You are encouraged to send information to us and share with the many readers of the Word and Work Online.

Updates on Harry & Kate Coultas–    Please be informed that Harry & Kate Coultas will be moving to Lewisport, KY, on Monday.  He will speak Sunday morning for the last time at Ross Point.  Kate will be in the nursing home there and Harry in an apartment that is very close to the nursing home.  Harry seems very upbeat about the move.  He is looking forward to driving the 30 miles on Sunday morning to attend church at Lilly Dale.  Please pray that all will go well as they make this significant change in their lives. Please take note of their new addresses:

  1. Bennie, I had missed your N&N, and Larry M. forwarded it to me when he received it. I always like to see what is happening among our churches. Thanks for doing a great job. –Ron Bartanen

Greetings! I would appreciate your announcing that the
Restoration Quarterly has just published my article
entitled “Story of a Hymnal: Great Songs of the Church.”
The issue is 56:3, Number 3 of 2014. I think the price of individual copies of the journal cost $5.00 and are available at ACU, Box 28227, Abilene, TX 79699-8227. Of course the Word and Work is referenced heavily in the documentation!
    Thanks!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
