Mission Report From Mark & Candy Garrett
Mark Garrett
Dear Ones, Our hearts are full and our heads are bursting! 'What?' You say. Dec 14 we plan to board the plane for Senegal. A hundred details are swimming around in our heads with last minute purchases and packing details! But are hearts are full of gratitude to God who has graciously made a way for us. After Mark's surgery the doctor explained the pathology report and said that it was the best prognosis that we could have hoped for. The cancer had been entirely contained inside the kidney and there was no evidence that it had spread elsewhere. Together we planned a schedule of screenings designed to catch any possible recurrence early during the next couple of years. At Mark's first quarterly check up yesterday the surgeon found healthy tissue and good healing after the surgery! PTL! So far, so good! This confirmed what we had already sensed after the surgery, that God wanted us to continue to serve Him in Senegal. Mark will return to teach university students in the English teaching ministry where he served last term. Our co-worker recently told of one student choosing to follow Christ and now attending a local church! There are also others who continue to show interest in learning more about the Gospel at this center near the campus. May God draw many to Christ! Candy will return to fill a part time role with the personnel coordinator. During this home assignment she has completed a Nutritional Therapy Consultant certification to provide a holistic approach to health for fellow missionaries and Senegalese as needed. Anne will resume her schooling at Dakar Academy, where Ethan has been this semester. We sent him ahead of us in faith. :<) It will be good to be back with him in Dakar. We thank you for your perseverance in praying for us. We sense your prayers keenly. May God continue to build His church among the Wolof and all the peoples of Senegal! Love in Christ,
