News and Notes
LOUIS C. SCHULER (1926 – 2012) Better known as the “cowboy” – preacher of the Gospel – prayer warrior – friend to many – Minister of the LaGrange Church of Christ for over 30 years -went “home” to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning (12/12/12) from: The Richwood nursing facility in LaGrange. A service of celebration was held Saturday December 15th at the Funeral Home in LaGrange. It was standing room only as many gathered to honor his life of service to the Lord whom He loved. He was known for his wit, humor and snappy comebacks. One of his gifts was encouragement to others, especially to ministers. He was always at his post, loved preaching, and shepherding the flock at La Grange. We believe he will receive the “crown of righteousness” to replace his cowboy hat. He truly “loved the appearing of the Lord.” Pray for Bro. Wayman Thompson who will be preaching and serving the congregation along with several capable men of the church.
CHARLES KNECHT (1935-2012) the minister at Mackville Church of Christ in Mackville, died Friday morning, December 14, 2012. In recent years, he had also been active in a counseling ministry at Isaiah House drug treatment facility. Prior to his ministry in Mackville, he was for many years the minister at the Utica Church of Christ in Utica, IN. He always loved a capella music and sang tenor in many male quartets and vocal groups over the years. His ministry spanned more than five decades and included many varieties of youth-focused ministry. He was active in the Utica and Mackville communities, and he was always the first man out the door after a tornado or snow or ice storm with a chain saw or a plow to help his neighbors. He was "on-duty" 24 hours a day as a minister, and countless times he dropped what he was doing to rush to the hospital when a family was in need. For many years he served as a volunteer firefighter and the chaplain for the Utica Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial services to celebrate Charles’ life were held in Mackville, Kentucky and the following day in Utica, Indiana. Many testimonies were given by friends and family. His truly was a life of service – one lived proclaiming the Word and showing love to all he came in contact with. Our prayers are extended to his family in their loss.

I sorry that I have not respomded back sooner. This is a great web page, serving our Lord in an awesome way.
Our minister here at the Gallatin church of Christ is Daniel Gordon. He is a younger man in his early 30s. He is a graduate of David Lipscomb University, and has served as our youth director for the past six years. He is very open minded and accepts all baptised believers as his brothers and sisters in Jesus the Christ. He has also done an extensive history on the restoration movement and the history of this congregation. You can go to the Gallatin Church of Christ website for copies of this study. Thank you for all that you have done through the years, and continue to pray that our Lord will come soon!
Bennie,
Jim and Rhonda retired from the Utica Church of Christ at the end of five years of faithful ministry. Jim felt that the Lord was leading him in another direction.
Steve Rectenwald and Dennis Gilpin are substituting while the church searches for another minister.
