THE HOMEGOING of Patricia Ann Schreiner was celebrated on Monday September 3rd at the Arch L. Heady funeral home in Louisville, Kentucky. She died on August 3st while still in rehab from a broken leg following a hip replacement earlier in the summer.
Her memorial service was led by Dick Lewis, whose daughter Beth married Patty’s son Dale. Also leading at her service was Patty’s son-in-law Tony Wakefield, who is married to Laura. Her other three daughters are Valerie Schreiner, Andrea Moellering, and Betty Ann Schreiner. During the memorial service the overflowing crowd was led in the singing of hymns by her nephew James Embree. The crowd was a testimony to the many lives she touched.
Patty’s life was surrounded by and devoted to children. She was a loving mother to five, grandmother to eight and great grandmother or “Memaw” to four. When she was not busy with her own children she was in the classroom or principal’s office impacting the lives of other children having worked at Highview Christian Academy and Portland Christian School to name only two.
Patty’s life was also filled with music. She grew up in the rich acapella heritage of the Church of Christ. Her parents raised her along with her brother Paul and sister Martha to love singing. Her love for music just intensified when she married Eugene Shreiner who preceded her in death several years ago. His family, too, loved to sing.
We extend our sympathy to the family in their loss but look forward to the time when we too can join in the heavenly chorus with Patty and all our loved ones who have gone before, singing a new song to the one who is worthy “to receive power, & riches, & wisdom, & strength, & honor, and glory & blessing.”
