Baptized into Christ! (Cramer & Hanover Church of Christ, Lexington, Kentucky, Bennie Hill, Minister)

  • The first Sunday of August was an emotional day for our family as I had the opportunity of baptizing our grandson Chernet Bennett Rowe into Christ. Chernet has been in our family since the first of the year (adopted from Ethiopia, along with his two sisters) and has been exposed to Bible teaching, church, prayer and a network of supporters that includes his brothers & sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles and grandparents.
  • The following week of August, my brother-in-law, Willie Reeves, baptized his two grandchildren, Nikki and Billy Castillo who had been visiting them from Florida. How sweet to see teens whose hearts are touched and convicted.
  • The last week of August was emotional again, as I had the privilege of baptizing our Lexington granddaughter, Cameron Mateyoke, into Christ.

Please pray for these new Christians as our desire is to see them “grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord.”

REUNION AT WOODLAND  (Reunion at Woodland Flyer) coming this fall, October 7, 8, and 9th. We literally have hundreds of people we need to get the word out to. We are praying that it will be one of the most life changing weekends ever spent at Woodland Bible Camp. We hope to have a little something for everyone, but the focus will be about strengthening our relationship with God and strengthening relationships within our own families. Come one, come all!  In one sense, our “target” group is anyone who will not be attending Senior Citizens Week and those who will not be attending the JR/SR High Retreat the last weekend of September…….BUT OF COURSE EVERYONE IS INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.  Let us know if you will help spread the word and pray.  Please pray that God would touch people and draw their hearts back to Woodland, to their families, and most importantly……..HIMSELF.  More details coming in the next few days! Pre-Game Prayer Eliminated Over Lawsuit Threat August 24, 2011 – This was sent in by Bennie Hill. It came  from Chuck Missler and Koinonia House Bell County, Kentucky school officials have ended the tradition of having a minister lead prayer over the public-address system before high school football games because of a complaint from a Wisconsin-based group that promotes the separation of church and state. Friday’s home game against Lexington Catholic was the first in decades that didn’t include a prayer before the game, said Bell County Superintendent George Thompson. “People were kind of jolted when we did the National Anthem and then kicked off” without the prayer, Thompson said.   – Kentucky.com

Are you looking for “The Perfect Pastor?” The ideal pastor preaches exactly 20 minutes. He condemns sin, but never hurts anyone’s feelings. He works from 8 AM to midnight, and also serves as the church janitor. He makes $40 a week, wears good clothes, and donates $30 a week to the church.  He is 29 years old and has 40 years of experience.  He is both tall and short, thin and heavyset, and has one brown eye and one blue eye. He makes 15 house calls a day and is always in his office.

If your pastor does not measure up to these criteria, send this list to six other churches that are also dissatisfied with their pastor. Then, bundle up your pastor and send him to the church at the top of the list. In one week you will receive 1,643 pastors.  Surely one of them will be perfect. Have faith in this letter. One church broke the chain and got its old pastor back in three months.  -Sent in  by Bennie Hill
